Raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Jane, 28, entered the U.S. Naval Academy in 2002 to pursue a naval career filled with excitement and the knowledge that she was dedicated to something bigger than herself: her country.

Upon graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Oceanography, she took her first ship assignment in San Diego, California, aboard the USS Denver (LPD-9) and had one deployment to the Arabian Gulf in 2004. Her next assignment took her to Seattle, where she served on the USS Ford (FFG-54) and spent a deployment on a drug patrol in the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean. Both occasions she was Officer of the Deck - qualified to drive the ship - as well as Helicopter Control Officer.
